The only reason I gave this set a 2/5 rating is due entirely to two of the films in the collection - "Reincarnation" and "Gravedancers", otherwise this set is a total waste of time and money! I don't know what the other reviewers here found even remotely interesting or scary about these movies because not only are they slow, laughable and boring, but they are an insult to anyone who is a true fan of the genre! After Dark and Lionsgate have pulled a fast one on all us suckers who bought into the hype of this so called "HorrorFest" - a shameful display and rip-off!

A Promising Set of New & Unexplored Horror

The After Dark Horror Fest is actually a national horror movie festival that began in 2006. It was 8 horror films shown over one weekend nationally. This set includes 7 of the 8 films. The eighth film, The Abandoned, won a viewers poll and was re-released to the theaters. The 7 films are: Reincarnation, Dark Ride, The Hamiltons, Unrest, Wicked Little Things, Gravedancers, and Penny Dreadful. All 7 films are being released seperately or you can buy then in this set and save a few bucks. The set will include a number of features and extras. As of this writing I've only seen 2 of the 7 films. They are Reincarnation, a Japanese horror film by the director of the Japanese The Grudge, and Unrest. Reincarnation is an amazing J-Horror. It is about a mass murder that happened at a hotel 30 years ago, and the production of a film based on the event. It is unlike The Grudge, and is very spooky. Unrest is a medical horror focusing on a bunch of students in med school dissecting human corpes. It has a lot of "cheap thrills" but is not a shocker. I have heard great things about Gravedancers, and very little on the others. The set is a must for dedicated horror fans. There will be an After Dark Horror Fest in November of 2007.
