yes, this film in many ways was not historically innaccurate and very much fictional. To people of ancestoral indigenous mayan decent, this movie was insulting and racist. Of course many people didnt see it that way, because as long as thier culture isnt spit on and explioted, it is ok. one mentions "human sacrifices" and thinks how uncivil these mayans were. well, if you really believe that even went on at all,(and if you learned more about the subject one would know that was not true)...ask anyone if this is savage to them, then to me, the thought of the death penalty in this country disgusts me. here is another film that further exploits a culture that has long been misunderstood. how insulting to have poeple think of us as nothing as blood thirsty savages, when the in the course of this country's history, the UNITED STATES MILITARY has been responsible for the shed of blood throughtout the world. if you can not see this, many of the people that watched this film and see us as hostile and violent are hypocrits. educate yourself on the mayan culture...."dont pick up a book written by a white man, as if thier opinion wasnt at all biased..."
