some interesting stuff in this bubblegum hollywood product
I was curious about this triple feature, being an older guy away from the audience target of this sort of films. I found some interesting things, particularly in the first film,"Blue Crush". Surf movies no longer exist and worse if they portray girls doing the surfing. The movie is made with passion and love for the subject, and the girls really rock. And if you think it's not possible, google it and you'll find champion girls all over the world, from unexpected places like Peru, with her powerful champion surfer Sofia Mulanovich. Another treat in "Blue Crush" is the amazing Hawaiian landscape and their challenging ocean waves. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. "Honey" is about Hip Hop and Rap Dance culture, starring the pretty Jessica Alba in her first lead role. It's a little bit corny and predictable, like every "chick flick", but there some major Hip Hop stars here and the movie shows their appeal on teenagers and kids. Also, some strong dance sequences keep the movie away from being boring.
"Josie and the Pussycats" is definitely a bubblegum product, BUT it has some serious issues like teen brainwashing via media and the stupid consumption society in which teens live nowadays(us, too!) to deal with. Unfortunately, the director doesn't develop these important subject matters and the movie characters, focusing only in a far-fetched plot. Take note that this movie has three terrific young actresses(wasted here) doing their best. They learned how to play their instruments and match or mimic the singing by the unknown backing band. Parker Posey and Alan Cummings are also wasted here. I hope this can help you if you want to buy it.
In conclusion, when you purchase this type of triple feature, keep in mind that only ONE is worth the money, the second is so and so and the third one is forgettable or a failed project.
