Bones Season Three - Not Too Much Of a Good Thing

What can you say about Bones? The cast of characters is utilized well and the main characters are intriguing to say the least. When I started the series, I was afraid it would be similar to CSI or other current shows that merely build their stories around crimes and the forensic science used to solve them. I've never once felt that way with this show. Yes, the basics are there...the initial crime (usually the finding of a body...or a piece of one at least) normally is how the show starts. Brennan/Bones (Emily Deschanel playing the part of a forensic anthropologist) in concert with FBI Agent Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz, whose character is no slacker in the common sense department) seem at first to be an odd pairing. But as the series progresses, you see not only how very different people can be extraordinarily compatible, but how the give and take of their relationship exposes each of their weaknesses and strengths and no little amount of mutual chemistry. Add to this an ensemble cast that never gives you the feeling they are the "ensemble" and Boreanaz and Deschanel are the Stars, and the result is well written episodes with no feeling that anyone there is filler. Each of the characters has a story and as the seasons progress you learn more about each of them and why they have the particular quirks they have. There are quite a few surprises about the cast members who may ordinarily have been considered second bananas, that keep you wanting to see the next episode to get their complete story. Add to all this the amazing things that can be determined and discovered merely by studying bones and good police work, and you have a very enjoyable show all around. It does deal with death and has some intense visuals at times which may bother younger children, so I'd probably not let anyone pre-teen watch, and younger teens only with a parent or someone else they could discuss any issues with.

I watched three seasons before I realized it was only going to get better. I highly recommend the series, but start from the first and work your way up. The information about various cast members that unfolds does have a certain timing to it and if you get it out of order it may be confusing for a while.

    Good, but not great

I think mostly due to the writers' strike, this season is disappointing. The ending is very hurried, and doesn't quite make sense. However, there are some great episodes and well worth adding to you Bones collection!

    Short but good.

Due to the writers strike, this season is a lot shorter than the other two.But do not let this dissuade you in making this purchase. Like season one and two, season three is great. Truly enjoyable to watch. A must have for Bones fans. Plus as a bonus you get additional episodes from season four which is currently airing.

    Bones Season Three

I've enjoyed the Bones series. Addictive, so it's nice to have the DVD to replay my favorite episodes. The little extras like the gag reel and director's cuts are added values. Angela Montenegro is my favorite character.
