This version of the Broadway hit, follows the script and songs from the stage version in a much more faithful way than the original movie. Interestingly, the result is on the boring side. The supporting cast is fantastic, especially Tyne Daly as an old battleax and Marc Kudisch as the title character. But the rest of the leads are very generic and bland. Ann Reinking has supplied the dances which do not come off as very spectacular, due to some very blah and static camerawork. This Birdie has some fun moments but probably won't last through the ages.
