    Brilliant!!!!!

This is, without a doubt, one of the best versions of DRACULA I have ever seen. It was a BBC production in the late 1970s, starring the gorgeous Louis Jourdan (of GIGI fame) as the Transylvanian Vampire Prince created by Bram Stoker. Yes, it's only slightly different than the novel, but does stick quite close. The lovely Judi Bowker (CLASH OF THE TITANS Princess Andromeda) is perfect as Mina, the Count's main love interest. I first saw this on TV, probably on PBS, and thoroughly enjoyed it. The cast is brilliant -- Louis Jourdan is cool, a bit aloof, but at the same time tender with his lady love. Judi Bowker is a sweet innocent but with a bit of steel beneath. I was glad to learn they reinserted the missing scene of Dracula's three vampire brides having a late-night snack on a baby. It was removed during subsequent showings because of people complaining although, if truth be told, it's not gory or violent; the baby is seen laying on the floor and the brides surround it (if memory serves correctly). That's it! I highly recommend this video edition of COUNT DRACULA -- it's a toss-up between this version and the Frank Langella version as my absolute favourite. Enjoy!
