    A true work of art

Diva is cutting edge for it's time. It raised the bar for the rest of the film industry. And La Wally is hauntingly beautiful. The characters are vivid and beautifully acted. Bravo!

My favorite film of all time!

Diva is my favorite film. Even though it's 27 years old, it's timeless. It has a great, twisted plot, great actors, and the scenes take place in cool locations.

You don't even have to like the French...

...to like this movie. Someone in my dorm had this on laser disc. ( It was the Eighties, look it up in Wikipedia!) I think we all had a bootleg soundtrack (on cassette tape!). I've seen it on a big screen, rented it, watched a horrible dubbed version, and wore out several bootleg tapes of the soundtrack. It's the Slumdog Millionaire of my youth. The soundtrack makes the movie, but it's full of obsession, romance and a young man's dogged pursuit of his true love. I'm buying it and watching it at least once a year. And I'll probably buy the soundtrack, too.

    Lyrical thriller

A wonderfully lyrical thriller about opera, fame, music, and, well, bootleg recording. It's really quite gripping, and offers the great Dominique Pinon (''Delicatessen'', ''Amelie'', ''City of Lost Children'') as a sinister villain, and a kind of French Lone Ranger as hero.
