GREAT FUN A MUST TO WATCH

I absolutely am convinced that the british are geniuses at writing stories. My usual preferences are their mysteries, but this series is a high end welcome to anyone who loves "something different" than anything I have ever seen. If I were to use one word to describe exactly WHAT THIS SERIES is about, I would call it "unexpected events" in the life ot Doc Martin, with sudden laughable situations. I LOVE IT.

    Doc Martin - A cure for the 'same-old, same-old' of TV script-writing

Doc Martin is so much fun to watch. The setting is beautiful - a fishing town tucked into the hillsides of the craggy Cornish coast along stunningly green-blue waters. The characters are wonderfully three-dimensional, especially the leads of Doc Martin and Louisa. The dramatic tension crackles between eccentric Martin, a transplanted Londoner returned to the village of his childhood, and the villagers, who dwell in a micro-culture of shared eccentricities. Communication between them is strained, but as the interactions accumulate, disdain turns to gruff acceptance and possibly even respect, never explicitly acknowledged, of course. (This is British, after all!) The romantic tension hums like a high-voltage fence between Martin, who is as "emotionally constipated" as they come, and Louisa, who is the more obviously passionate of the two, but still the possessor of a strong backbone and sense of dignity. It's amusing to watch the players with their obvious human foibles trying to do their best and yet still ending up making life unpleasant for others.... This being comedy, most things get patched up in the end, but the scenes and situations are hilarious. Enjoy!

This is a fantastic series, I love it. My mom told me about it, I'm a Brit living in the USA and she is still in the UK. It is funny, sad and well done. I love seeing Cornwall again too, it is so beautiful. I would recommend it. Martin Clunes has always been a great favourite of mine, he is a great comedian and is a surprise in this role..he does sad and touching very well too ! Love it !!!
