    The best of two worlds

This is the very best factional documentary I have ever witnessed combining stories from both viewpoints of the American Indian and the emerging Frontier families. I am both Choctaw and decendant of families who homesteaded California. I found myself in tears more than once as I related to both the pioneer head of household as he learned from Jedidiah Smith and as the young Indian who mournfully cut his hair in compliance with the white man's ways. My husband and I have viewed the series three times thus far and have purchased the set as gifts for two special occasions. More will be given at Christmas.

    Stunning!

This is one of those series that leaves an impression on anyone who watches it. It is poetic and heart-wrenching and creates both happiness and despair and a depth of feeling for each of the characters. I recommend this to anyone, it will touch each in a different way.

    amazing

This movie was awesome!! It is so addicting. I love how they showed the characters change through time. I knew it was going to be good when I saw the previews on television for it. It really makes you understand what the Native Americans went through. I highly recommend this movie!!

    A Grand Epic of Fact

They say history is written by the winners, and this is true. The U.S. Goverment, circa 1800s, told the story as they wanted it to be heard. "Into the West" finally brings the truth to the forefront. This miniseries shows the western expansion of our forefathers and then painfully tells how the U.S. Government used false promises to take Indian land and U.S. Army generals leading troops to eliminate Indians without cause. We must not forget this aspect of history, as it reminds us that, past, present, or future, we need to live in a world of peace.

    Absolutely Wonderful movie.

This movie is one of those rare ones that will stay with you for a long time, you see how Native Americans really suffered and there wonderful people, so it was painful to watch but it was worth seeing.
