Another dissection of the meaning of life.
Overall, this is an awesome movie, with realistic animation, an interesting setting, and interesting story developments. However, it's obvious Mamoru Oshii (the scriptor behind the amazing films Patlabor and Ghost in a Shell) was forcing many of the story's elements in order to find another hit. There are too many plot twists; too little time to get accomplished what he wants with the characters. (It would have made a great animated mini-series, or something.) Even so, it's worth seeing if you're an Anime fan, and worth buying if you've watched it a couple of times (like I have) and you understand the plot a little better. Was this review helpful?
