Macgyver is an example of human ingenuity at it's best

I loved reliving this series. It's been a while since I watched a show that was a wonderful example of old-fashioned manners and respect for others, especially women. People in today's Women's movement probably won't like this. MacGyver is always respectful to women. He opens doors for women, says yes ma'am, no ma'am, and considers their feelings.

His solutions are ingenious...even if, as I've been informed, not realistic. The show makes them plausible, they seem like the result of genuine scientific and practical knowledge. I like it because the story is believable. There is a lot of humor throughout, and some thought provoking moments. I would recommend this very highly if you aren't too grounded in stodgy reality. It's fantastic, but believable, and tells an excellent story. That is what I look for in shows to watch. I will definitely be watching this one again.

    MacGyver's the best!

Only equal to Stargate SG-1, MacGyver is an awesome show that definitely deserves to have its own full DVD collection. And it couldn't have become what it is with any star other than Richard Dean Anderson. Just to be helpful, here is a list of all the episodes included in this DVD pack (Unfortunately there are no extras), in order: Disc 1: Pilot, The Golden Triangle, Thief of Budapest, The Gauntlet. Disc 2: The Heist, Trumbo's World, Last Stand, Hellfire. Disc 3: The Prodigal, Target MacGyver, Nightmares, Deathlock. Disc 4: Flame's End, Countdown, The Enemy Within, Every Time She Smiles. Disc 5: To Be A Man, Ugly Duckling, Slow Death, The Escape. Disc 6: A Prisoner of Conscience, The Assassin.

    Great Show

I grew up with MacGyver, and I loved it. I was still a kid when the show went off the air, but I've never forgotten it. I would definitely recommend it for everyone.

    Hang onto your pocket knives!

Ah, a hero with attractive good looks, even better brains, good sense, & who probably boosted revenues for the maker of the Swiss Army Knife. (I have a "Miss Army Knife" myself: basic SAK tools plus mirror, needle & thread & safety pins)

    Patron Saint of Solutions!

Wow! Hurry up with season 2! From homages of the old versions of 'the Italian job' and 'Naked Jungle' not to mention several other classic films, here's a hero, no, patron saint, of all who find themselves in a jam. The anti gun, helping hand, 'we can do anything if we all work together' attitude is happy, refreshing, and hopeful. Thinking on your feet can save your life, and the pro-environmental statements are a plus. The sheer fun of trying to guess what Mac is going to make next makes you feel like you too, can be a hero. just stay in school, pay attention in science, eat healthy and get involved with your community. In these paranoid days of terrorism, a hero that can save the day with a bit' o duct tape, baking soda, chocolate, or a large map, is refreshing, indeed and within all of our grasps.

    Great Action Show

This is probably my favorite show from the 80's. The first season was great but as all fans know the fourth season was the best. My favorite part of these shows was the 6th episode- I think the title was when Macgyver's Dad Died. During the episode he improvises and uses formaldahyde to keep his dad's body from rotting before he can get a proper burial. Its also cool that his name his Angus cause if you take away the g its pretty funny.

    A genius

I think that this series tells about a character that puts his knowledge to use to escape from holes and the like...He is talented at getting out of any jam while getting the mission accomplished.
