John Woo should win an award for how masterfully he turned this potentially great franchise into a caricature of not only itself, but every other movie he's ever made. The orignal had intrigue, wit, and relavance that are long forgotten by Woo's old tricks in the sequel: a nice linear (read: predictable) plot, lots of pigeons, and hours of slow-motion. The sequel would have been 40 minutes long had he cut out the spinning-car scene. Stick with this first movie, an action movie that needs to be seen, but isn't as self-aware as its illegitimate younger brother. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
