This movie moves rapidly with changes in scenes and snappy dialogue. For anyone who has done home improvements or had contractors underfoot, we can all relate to the unexpected problems and financial emergencies that come with changing or building a home. Even having a third wheel in the marriage and two children adds dimension to the story! This was one that I will watch again.

Great entertainment!
When updating an apartment in town seems just too expensive, the Blandings go about building their own "country estate". Working their way through one problem after another, it seems the place will never be completed. Great Cary Grant/Myrna Loy interaction.

That's a no rock! That's a ledge!
We have watched this video many times, then after building our own home, I see where a lot of the headaches can arise. One of the many similar items happened while working on the landscaping and digging up a lot of big rocks. At one point, I looked at my husband and said the unforgettable line - ''That's a no rock - that's a ledge.'' He about fell over and our neighbors thought we were nuts. It made the rest of the yard work easy!

Hilarious fun!
Cary Grant and Myrna Loy are a city couple who decide to leave and move to the country. They pack up and move out, but home ownership proves to be more difficult than anyone could have ever dreamed. Filled with funny dialogue and hilarious mishaps, this is one film you'll definitely want to see. You don't have to be a homeowner to enjoy this film. The performances of its actors and the disasters that occur are enough to win anyone over! Also stars Melvyn Douglas (Theodora Goes Wild) and Reginald Denny (Of Human Bondage, Rebecca). Be sure to see this film, you'll be laughing all the way!
