    Dissapointing Release

As a huge fan of MythBusters, I look forward to each DVD release, so that I may enjoy Adam, Jaime and the others at my leisure and without commercials. However, this release left me very disappointed.

Not for the content, mind you. The ten episodes offered are some entertaining ones; particularly the Alaska specials and the Indiana Jones inspired bike flip episode.

Where the disappointemnt comes in is in the fact that the episodes presented are edited. The back of the box list the running time as 430 min. - or 43 min. per episode. However, most episodes are clocking in at around only 40 min. (The first Alaska Special clocked in at 39m 28s!) Also, I have seen each of the episodes included on TV several times, and there is clearly content removed - and not just the "Coming up on MythBusters" commercial bumps; but actual story parts.

The scenes jump abruptly between myths. One moment will see Adam and Jaime doing one myth and the scene will suddenly jump to the Build Team's myth with no warning. It's very disorienting and not the way the show was aired. There was absolutely no reason to edit the shows, as the 430 min. runtime - or 215 min. per disc - is well within the data space available on a dual layered DVD. New DVD distributer Gaiam is doing Discovery and MythBusters fans a huge disservice with this sort of shoddy release.

    Caveat Emptor.
