In the world of horror films there is a clear distinciton between good B movies and bad ones. Return of the Living Dead 5 manages to easily place itself in the latter category. The first film in the series did a wonderful job of balancing horror with indirect comedy. Rave to the Grave's clumsy plot and poor acting do very little for the zombie genre. The scenes that are supposed to be funny come off more like a poorly executed high school film where the camp is just too unbearibly campy to be taken genuinly funny. To it's credit, there are a decent amount of zombies interspersed in and between some scenes. That is about it though. If you are a gore fan then just forget about this movie all together. It isn't nearly as gory as one would expect it to be and while that isn't the only selling point for a zombie fan, it matters. After it is all over you are left with a bit of disappointment (because you know it could have been better) and a hole in your pocket where $24.29 used to be. It does have a pretty awesome cover but that really isn't worth your hard earned dollar. Rave to the Grave's plot is silly and horrendously contrived so please, do yourself a favor and stay away from this film whether you are a fan of the genre or you are just looking for a scare. This film has disappointment in spades, friends. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
