Not really a horse movie
I guess I've been spoiled by quality horsey movies like Seabiscut, The Black Stallion and Hildago.
This movie wasn't so much about the greatest champion ever but about the people. It was slow and boring except for the too few times it actually had something to do with Secretariat.
Save your money and pass on it.1 out of 2 people found this review helpful.

I'm not a fan of horse racing, but this movie was amazing.
I liked how they had those verses from Job in the beginning and than brought them up again at the best part in the end. It made it really epic!
I recommend it to all ages. There was only on spot that was questionable, ATT moms with kids that see everything: At one point, the main character is talking on the phone with her "teen" daughter who is at a hippie rally, in the background (and thankfully out of focus) an inappropriately dressed girl walks by. It's only a split second, and I didn't notice it the first time. but still... -

All-time Favorite!
What a wonderful story! I remember the actual Triple Crown in 1973 and the excitement that Secretariat created in the country. He was more than a horse...he took the USA by storm and everyone LOVED HIM. The movie is a favorite and I have watched it numerous times, each time with tears! Highly recommended for all ages.

Inspiring - a must see feature!!
I rarely watch movies about horses, but what drive me to watch this movie is Diane Lane itself! Indeed, she has surpass my expectations on this movie. This is one of her best performances in all of her movies. In addition, John Malkovich did a wonderful job as well the other members of the cast. In the end, you will all love horses and of course BIG RED--the star of the movie!
