    A Wonderful Surprise

When I first heard of this film I had my doubts about the abilities of Melanie Griffith to pull it off. However I was greatly surprised and this film has become one of those I have viewed several times.

Ms. Griffith takes a job as a secretary and translator unknowingly for the OSS in the days before America's involvement in WWII. Her boss she learns played by Michael Douglas is a spy. Griffith believes she wants to be one too so that she can go into Germany and find her Jewish cousins. She soon finds herself in way over her head. She manages to get information on the German rocket projects and then she has to get out of Germany. That is where the real fun begins. I won't spoil the film's ending, but if you like war films or spy movies, this will surprise you as being one of the better ones.

    Great movie- too often overlooked.

I personally found this a really good movie. It is taken during a time when everything in our world was turned upside down. It is a romantic thriller style movie. Maybe a little hokey sometimes- but that's part of it's charm.

Wartime Thriller with a Superb Cast SHINES THROUGH!

Superb cast - Michael Douglas, Melanie Griffith, Liam Neeson. Terrific screenplay even if not true to the novel's original plot. Taut suspense and great action right to the end. It has taken way too long to get this film on a DVD, but here it is, and it SHINES THROUGH! Don't miss this one!

The BEST MOVIE EVER - Finally coming to DVD

I have waited for ever to get this movie on DVD. And finally it is being released. I first saw this movie in 1992 in USAF Technical School in Texas. I skipped studying for some tests to watch this movie 3 times that week. After seeing this movie I wanted to go to Germany. Guess what - Germany was my first assignment. This is a MUST SEE!!!!!

Since when do movies follow the book?

Besides, I can watch Melanie with the sound off!

    nice movie..

though it was stormed by many criticisms, still its one of my favorite movie to date. It takes you to a new dimension of love and sacrifice, and thru love a person can go great heights and leap tall mountains. this was very evident to the main protagonists the music was superb and the setting was great.

    Shining Through a major disappointment

I loved Susan Isaacs's book ''Shining Through'' and was so eager to see the movie. However, in the first five minutes I knew that the movie was not true to the book. Linda had changed from a character consistent with her background and time period to a confident woman of the '90's! The book is fabulous. The movie is not.
