Good but lacks diversity!
I own all 5 DVDs of Supernatural and the writing is quite exceptional. Season 5 had a tendency to get a little silly at times but overall it's a great show. However, my one major critique of Supernatural is that the treatment of diversity, especially African American males, leaves much to be desired. Every Black man who is an angel turns out to be evil. There are no Black men on the show, throughout the five seasons, who are strong, honorable, and manage to avoid getting killed. Dean and Sam just go around each episode kicking the teeth out of Black "bad guys," as if the writers are trying to convince the audience that white guys can be tough. I recommend the writers tone down the "white power" trip and do a better job conveying that good and evil, strong and weak, come in all colors.
Notwithstanding the racial flaws of this show, Supernatural is still my favorite TV entertainment and I wish the show continued success, with a little more sensitivity towards diversity.
