More fun than it has any right to be. I put it down to Robert Shaw, who enjoys himself immensely in the role of "Red" Ned Lynch.

    Under-estimated

This was one of the great movies of my youth. After seeing ''Jaws'' about 50 times, I was hooked on Robert Shaw. Although he only made a handful of films after ''Jaws,'' ''Swashbuckler'' was, without a doubt, one of the best. With pirates and swords, it kept my attention (not an easy feat with a teenager). And, it also featured young stars Beau Bridges and Peter Boyle. I not only own the VHS and DVD versions, but I also own two authentic movie posters from the movie theatres when it opened on the silver screen -- that's how good this movie is.

    Fun!

After Jaws, I was facinated by Robert Shaw. This movie won me over on the first viewing. Great fun with a Flynn flair, the pirates captured my imagination and made me want more of the old style of romance and fun. Not to be taken seriously, it is why romance novels sell.
