That was sad!
Although there were some short happy moments (see cover), the story is extremely sad with no happy end! I was depressed and I was very sorry about that blind boy.... I was deeply touched seeing him crying and I cried myself. This boy just wanted to be loved and be happy. And he was happy at the moments when his family was around. The movie is full of astonishing sceneries with green mountains, flourishing fields and foggy woods, however they lost their beauty in front of a crying abandoned child.

Truly beautiful and moving
This film is a visual feast. The beautiful green mountain sides and vibrant flowers... the scenes in the forest and at the sea. This film is absolutely gorgeous visually. The story is also moving and touching. The closing scenes had me on the edge of my seat the first time I saw it. This is absolutely a must see. This film is one of my favorite 3 films of all time.

Modern Classic
Had to write longer review than one posted. If you love and appreciate great cinema, you must see this movie. Powerful but in subtle, lasting way. The ending is one of the best I've ever seen and worth the wait. Hollywood could learn a lesson in filmmaking from the international community!

A triumph of hope
This visually dazzling film, shot mostly in the mountains of western Iran, tells the story of a boy who, though blind, 'sees' with his heart. With a wisdom way beyond his years, he questions the world, his presence in it, and God's presence. By these questions, the story opens out into a universal one to which anyone who has suffered can relate. Another reviewer on this site has said the film was too sad, but I think he might have misinterpreted the very last scene, which must be watched very carefully to see the final, subtle, triumph. This film will have you discussing it long after the end.
