    Low Budget Masterpiece

If you see any film staring Rudger Hauer see this one. Hauer isn't the type of actor who has hit after hit but this character was his best. The idea behind the film could be missed by many but just bare with the director and let him tell you a story about a young man on a road trip from Chicago to San Diego California and the cat and mouse trip with a maniac hitcher. The transformation at the end says something about the human mind and it's need to find solace. Many horror fans have stated this story as a classic and I would have to agree. This has a classic twist at the end that a novelist quoted as "choose your own suck." The hero is going to change either physically or mentally. If you rent or buy this film (just buy) you'll understand the film more. Hauer basically tells the audience what he wants when he tells our hero "I want to die." Just 4 little words: I want to die.

    Great film.

    highly recommended

this is an absolutely fascinating movie. I maintain today that George Foyette is Rutger's fault

    !!SCARY!!

I really loved this movie! CT Howell is so sexy and a great actor. It was the first of the "road killer" movies and still stands peak high in comparison!!!

    emotional roller coaster

This is an emotional rollercoaster that never lets up and never seems to stop. I was drained emotionally by the end of this picture. Believable performances by C. Thomas Howell and especially Rutger Hauer. A far better version than the recent remake.
