    The Best Marvel Movie!!

This movie was by far my favorite marvel movie. It had alot of shoot em' up action in it. I honestly liked it better than any other marvel movie. It's my favorite super-hero movie. If you liked most of the marvel movies, and if you like shooting movies, then you'll love the punisher.

    A reviewer

Although Shrek and Fiona were married in part two, they never intended for the big green ogre to inherit the throne of Far, Far Away. When Fiona's father King Harold develops a fatal illness, Shrek, Donkey, and Puss 'n' Boots set out on a quest to find Artie -- the proper heir, who has rejected kingship -- and turn him from a snotty, rebellious punk into a grateful prince.

take this for what it is- a film faithful to what it sets out to be

I think that most people who bash The Punisher just want it to be something that it's not. I loved Spiderman/Spiderman 2, Xmen/X2 and I really liked Daredevil, but The Punisher is not like any of these films, not to say that all of those former films are not unique and well-made.It's a dark, action-packed hard core revenge film that makes the audience feel that Castle's Punishment of the evil is totally justified- The audience really empathisizes with Castle's severe loss and roots for him to become The Punisher and give the sadistic evil-doers what they deserve. Thomas Jane is well-cast as Frank Castle/The Punisher and convincing as his character/objectives change. John Travolta gives in a ruthless performance as Howard Saint, and the supporting cast really holds it's own-smart storytelling and surprises everywhere. A wonderfully made film.

    Good Movie, Poor Adaption

If you want a shoot'em up, bang bang then this is great. If you want the Punisher... almost but not quite. In the comic, Punisher was a man the heroes didn't like because he was too extreme. Note, one of the charges against the Punisher is for shooting a man for littering. The Punisher would have been far more ruthless than in the movie. The Punisher van was nowhere to be seen. The country western hick assassin was pathetic. (Okay, it was comic bookish. The song was cool.) But now that I've said all that, a few good things. The movie was pretty tight technically. Weapons were used well, no silly neverending ammunition, no 500 yards pistol shots. Lots of body-armor and heavy weapons. I won't comment on the one hand to hand fight... you all know what I mean. The GTO was cool. Ultimately I will say it was a good movie and I enjoyed it and will watch it again. I would recommend it as a good movie for its genre. If you are looking for true to the comics, well, that's not gonna work.

    Poor

An absolutely TERRIBLE movie. What in the world was John Travolta thinking when he signed on to this train wreck? It's a career killing kind o' flick...

A Weak Adaptation Of a Great Comic!

This has not been the first time that 'Punisher' has made it into film. The original was a film so bad that it was released straight to video. In 2004, when Marvel is making lots and lots of money making films from comic books, the 'Punisher' appears. The film is about a retired FBI Agent that seeks revenge after his whole family is murdered. It begins with an FBI operation led by and agent named Frank Castle that went wrong and an unlucky person caught in the ring of fire was killed. It turns out that the person was the son of a famous mobster. The mobster seeks revenge by having every person in the agent's family while he is at a family reunion. He is believed killed as well but comes back to seek revenge. He becomes the 'Punisher' and befriends with three people in an old rundown apartment. Now these three people serve no basis in the movie at all. They don't really aid the 'Punisher' in any way. One helps when he is injured but he could have helped himself easily. They are all dead weight. Honestly, this movie is a let down. It is an improvement over the original, but little has been improved. Most of the actors perform horribly in this movie. Some of these actors like Rebecca Romijn-Stamos, Will Patton, Thomas Jane, and John Travolta do okay jobs of beign believable. The plot at times makes little sense. The does not seem to pull off much action for a character like the Punisher. The flm is toned down from the comics but stills pulls off an R-rating. It seems like a kids movie to be honest. The Punisher reveals himself to the public a little ways into the movie. That may seem like a plot giveaway but it really isn't. Why does he do that? This just lets his enemies know he is a threat since he is alive. Why would Howard Saint(the evil mobster) let his family go out into the public with the Punisher loose on the streets. The film has very little violence for a violent character like the Punisher. Sometimes, it is good to change characters in a comic book when coming to film (like the first two 'Batman' films which went for a darker look from the graphic novels instead of the light toned comic books). However that doesn't work here. The Marvel character had such great ideas in being adapted from the comic book. They chose only 1 comic book to inspire the film instead of drawing ideas from many. That was a mistake. They should have made the movie more violent in order to keep the essence of the comic book. The film is like a cross between 'Batman & Robin' and 'Death Wish.' The film promises punishment. That is true but the punisher is the movie and anyone watching the movie is the punishee.
