All That's Missing Is Tyrone Power
A beautiful haunting score that stays with you years afterward. Beautiful photography, and exotic locations. Plus Delholm Elliot and Theresa Russell. The script has more depth to the characters than the 1946 original...BUT....with all this going for it, all that's missing to make this a great movie is Tyrone Power. Was this review helpful? This movie is good....
While this version of the movie has added ''comic relief'' in areas that might have been a stretch for Murray, it is an excellent movie that keeps the basic premise behind the book by Maugham. This version also gives something to viewers that wasn't provided in other movies at the time; a glimpse into N. India and TIbet. It is a beautiful lasndscape with the goal of becoming enlightened. This movie was ahead of it's time. Better than 7 Years in Tibet; this movie brings W. Somerset Maugham's novel to life. Though the main character's desires, ambitions, and story are different than the book, you will find a sense familiarity with the character played by Murray. I wish they would release it on DVD. Check it out.Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
