One word from an OG (original Goth)...SUCKS

My 10 year old daughter suddenly had a Vampire fascination brought on by fourth grade, shop-at-Justice-girl hysteria. Me being a former "Thrill Kill Cult", "NIN", & "Cure" goth clubber, I was actually all for this metamorphasis. The fashion exploration, the jewelry, the don't-mess-with-me-I'm-in-a-foul-mood attitude... I can relate. Then, we bought "New Moon" to watch together.
I can describe the feeling I got from watching this in one word, icky. I loved the dramatic and cloaked in mystery travels to Europe to a Vaticanesque Vampire empire, pretty cool. The Romeo and Juliet I will die for you love message always gets a thumbs up. However, this "Edward" pasty guy, is suppose to be the undying (no pun intended) love of the brooding female Bella's life. So why exactly is she snuggling with the hairy werewolf friend with benefits "Jacob"? Not cool. This was not a mixed message I thought should be sent to girls. Have an obsessive love, that's fine, think about him all the time but go out with this other animal, I mean dude.
I don't know what all the hype is, really? I mean, just watch "The Lost Boys" to see what a great, sexy vampire movie is all about. THAT is what makes good film. Thirtysomething mom - out.

I nearly fell asleep watching New Moon

I enjoyed the book but thought that the movie was very slow. The acting was wooden. Maybe because I had read the book, it was not as exciting as it may otherwise have been. I know Kristin Stewart's character, Bella, was supposed to be depressed but she nearly always had the same look on her face. She didn't seem to project the deep feelings that she should have been feeling. I did like Jacob in the book and in the movie. He seemed very genuine. Edward is too "tragic" a character. The plot moved so slowly i really did almost fall asleep watching New Moon. I hope Eclipse will be better.
