This set the pace for all that followed!

Back in 1990, this tv show was launched on an unsuspecting public. There was never a TV show like this. Fans were riveted by the death of Laura Palmer. Once the mystery was resolved, the true fans stayed till the end. Without this show, series like The X-Files, Lost and Buffy would probably never have found an audience when they did. Having rewatched the whole series a few times, I always find something new. I highly reccomend this to anyone! It is weird, and definitely out there, but that is a part of the appeal. Kyle McLachlan is the best part of the show. His theories are based more often on intuition than hard evidence. This show launched a lot of stars: Kyle, Lara Flynn Boyle, Heather Graham and more!

    Twin Peaks for Beginners

I had only ever head about the show 'Twin Peaks,' but had never seen it. I had a little free time this summer, and decided it was the ideal moment to begin my Twin Peaks education. The show did not let me down. It's smart, campy, and creepy. I fell in love with Agent Dale Cooper and the whole wacky bunch. You will too! This set of DVD's is complete and sets you up to have everything you could ever want from Twin Peaks. I recommend it whole heartedly. It is an amazing world to spend your summer in!

    more from this reviewer

    "She's dead... wrapped in plastic"

The story of a small town shaken by the discovery of a corpse; one that turns out to be the girl loved by all, Laura Palmer. As the mystery of who killed Laura and what happened to her in her last days unfolds, we are introduced to a multitude of quirky and bizzare characters and places.

There's FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper; an obsessive detective whose methods are unusual but typically accurate. Also in the fold are Laura's parents, one of whom may know something more about their daughter's dissapearance. The quirky bunch at the Twin Peaks Sherrif's Office, the Log Lady, Leo, Shelly, Bobby, and many more people populate this bizarre little town.

The show, (created by David Lynch, master of the weird) was produced in the early 1990's and ran for only two years before being cut due to low ratings. This is totally understandable... this show is not for all. It requires great amounts of patience and thinking. The show must be watched from start to finish, there is no jumping in. However, if you do watch the whole thing, you will be richly rewarded with a stellar cast, great writing and gorgeous cinematography. There simply is no other show like Twin Peaks and I doubt that there ever will be (the closest I've seen is HBO's Carnivale). It is moving, funny, thoughtful, frightening, strange, and beautiful all at the same time.

Do yourself a favor and get this box set. You will not be dissapointed.
