A Gorgeous Set for a Gorgeous Man

20th Century Fox has finally given Tyrone Power his due by releasing a magnificent box set of five of his adventure films: Blood and Sand, Son of Fury, Captain from Castile, The Prince of Foxes, and The Black Rose. The restoration work is excellent, and viewers will be especially impressed with Blood and Sand with its rich colors. Each DVD comes with a set of postcard-sized lobby cards and great features, including "Leading Ladies," interviews with women who starred with Power, a family reunion of Power's second wife, Linda, and his three children and "Behind the Scenes" with Oscar nominee James Cromwell, whose father directed the film. Let's hope another collection of Power films is released after the success of this one.

    An excellent collection!

Some of the most spectacular films ever made. Tyrone Power was never better than he is in these five films. Captain from Castile is simply magnificent--there will never be another Hernan Cortez to match Cesar Romero. Both the visual images & the soundtrack are stunning. Prince of Foxes & The Black Rose are unusual films in a number of respects, & include Orson Welles in two of his most interesting roles. Blood and Sand is a classic to many Power fans. Son of Fury is the least of the five films, but is worth seeing for George Sanders alone.

    Outstanding DVD Collection

Very classy, no expense spared DVD Collection starring Fox's most important leading man, and the one who set the stage for John Payne, Cornel Wilde, and a host of other Fox actors who followed. Tyrone Power here is well-served with this set, which concentrates on his swashbuckler films, the best being "Blood & Sand." The features are all excellent and beautifully produced.
