A Feast For the Eyes, Written for the Mind
This is documentary film making at it's finest,
Yung Chang creates a feast for the eyes, even while discussing a difficult social reality.
Franco Zefferelli said about good cinematography, you should be able to blow up any frame and mount it on your living room wall. For many of the segments of the film you could do just that.

This is a moving social commentary on China's evolution, filmed for the eyes, but written for the mind.

Yung Chang sets a new watermark for documentaries. Was this review helpful?
