Director's cut was a whole lot better.

When I sit down to watch a movie, I want to be entertained, I don't want to watch a documentary, The plot of Waterworld was superb, It really made you think if something like this could ever be possible. I own the original release, but after watching the director's cut, I want that one too. It filled in so many holes that I noticed in the original release. The most telling one was in the final scenes, when they uncovered the plaque stating that Dry Land was actually the tip of Mt. Everest.

Wrong DVD: Instead of getting the 100TH ANNIVERSERY UNIVERSAL ED

Wrong DVD: Instead of getting the 100TH ANNIVERSERY UNIVERSAL EDITION. I got the original DVD case. Also the case is in bad shape. The plastic is all wavy. Finale the disc wasn't even in the middle circle.
it was flopping all around inside the case!

    Such a Cool Movie

I loved the movie Water World. Many people thought this movie second rate, but the concept and story line are amazing! I would so recommend it. I love Kevin Costner!

    Drowning In Mediocrity

Kevin Costner's multi-million dollar rip-off of the 'Road Warrior.' Pretty much the same plot and theme except on water as opposed to desert. Kevin Costner plays a fish-human hybrid wandering in a world now covered with water. He runs into Helen (Jeanne Tripplehorn) and a young girl (Tina Majorino)but soon realizes they bring trouble with the Smokers, a band of cigarette-smoking pirates led by The Deacon (Dennis Hopper.) Grudgingly protecting the innocent peoples from the Smokers, Costner then seeks to lead them to a solid ground paradise. In terms of solid lines and performances there are none except for Dennis Hopper. The story itself reeks of pseudo-science and shows the writer's obvious lack of basic georgraphical knowledge. The story has the only remaining solid ground on Earth placed on the peak of Mount Everest: what a farce! Even if all polar caps and surface ice were completely melted, it is impossible for that amount of water to rise over 30,000 feet evenly across the entire world: there just isn't that much ice in the polar caps and our water supply on this planet is a closed system. The movie is just another sad example of Costner's ever declining career as both an actor and director. I kept on wanting to fall asleep through the film but the explosions and senseless yelling kept me awake.

    Extended Version is better

Just recently I was watching Waterworld on the SCI-FI Channel when I realized it was the extended version of Waterworld. That left me with one question where is the extended version of Waterworld? Beside it has been many years since it was first shown on ABC. Besides I was amazed how much cooler the extended version was than the theatrical version that had large logic gaps in the plot when I first watched it. Even though this movie is cool I still want to find the extended version for my DVD collection. With high imagination and cool stunts that make for high adventure on the ocean Waterworld is one of the best for adventure.

    Kevin @ his best!!

I thought this movie was great! Every Friday night, I used to go in my living room and watch waterworld. I'd start the movie at 9pm. Turn all the lights out and just watch the movie. I think the cast/crew did a excellent job... I like the the view of the city underwater. It makes you think about the future. Doesn't it! I'm now going to buy Waterworld on DVD so I can watch it all the time!
