    what a hot vampire!

the main reasons I am giving this movie 3 stars is because of the time & effort, some of the acting, and a really really handsome looking dracula! Other then that I expected a little bit more form a movie directed by Wes.

a good try, but not great

This movie was okay but wouldn't even come close to a vampire top ten list.

    New and Different Dracula

I desperately wanted to give this film a 4 star rating for the beautiful casting (there really wasn't a single bad actor!) But Wes Craven probably wasn't the best person to create a Dracula story. Wes is a little too fond of gore and there is just something wrong with the idea of Dracula creating carnage with his food supply. Kudos to Gerard Butler for presenting the most sensual Dracula since Frank Langella's 1979 portrayal. A magnificent and attractive actor, I can hardly wait for him to make a new film. Justine Waddell (also one of my favorites) portrays the Count's love interest with style and grace. The concept of Dracula in New Orleans for Mardi Gras is refreshing. All the same, though, Dracula was always a much more psychologically frightening character than a psychotic ''slasher'' type and I felt there was a definite effort to bring that slant into the story. Wes, if you're working on a sequel, please read the novel and recast Butler and Waddell! Their intense scenes make the film worth watching. Also, use a little more English and less obscene language. Vampire aficionados of the world will be grateful.
