Very scary and revealing of life under Stalin
While this book is very informative about the situation under the reign of Stalin, I found several holes in the logic of the story. It is written well for an observer rather than an author and it is wonderful to have this story for history. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. What doesn't make sense is why anyone who was Jewish would go to Russia under the rule of Stalin. Clearly Statlin was antisemetic and to go there even, if there were few jobs in the US, was to put oneself and family in harm's way. The book indicates a gullibility that makes the reader wonder, but perhaps that is because of seeing the situation with hindsight. The issue of the passports and her imprisonment indicate lack of interest on the part of the American government as well.
