If you’re not a horror fan, stay far far away from this book. It will give you chills and might keep you awake a few nights. I, on the other hand, am a big fan of the horror genre, so naturally I loved this 15-minute, quick read novella. Part of an anthology, “848” preyed on my worst fears and as horrifying as it was, I couldn’t stop reading. As someone who suffers from claustrophobia and a fear of falling elevators, what the main character had to endure was absolutely terrifying. The thought of lying helpless at the bottom of an elevator shaft in an abandoned building, is enough to give anyone nightmares. What really kept me rooting for this character was her will to survive and in the short space of only 28 pages, the author had me experiencing the same agonizing fear the main character did.

This ghost story is the perfect bedtime read, but I have to warn you again that if horror is not your thing, you will find this short story quite disturbing. For me, it was well worth the read and a terrifyingly thrilling fifteen minutes of my time.

Having the leads as female is what drew me to the stories. The way each one handled their selves in each story was perfect. The way they battled their fears within themselves was pretty good. though most people use women in their stories as victims, I really enjoyed these stories due to their strong female leads. Made me want more stories like these.....

Zombielicious (rhymes with delicious) I am a horror fan and this was short not sweet. Action filled good writing and I could not put it down. It scared me and that is not easy. I could see this story becoming a good novel, hint hint Robert :-) . I am looking for the sequel it is supposed to be part 5. If anyone knows please post.

    Strong female lead in Crow.

I enjoyed this story of a normal unprepared person with internet access and a cell phone. And she uses them! Not the typical zombie bait girl. It is actually refreshing to have a smart young woman to lead this story.

What happens next is the usual get out of the city fight for survival. It is a bit short. But, it leaves you wanting to know more about Crow. I am looking forward to the sequel in Dark Bites 5. Its the bonus story in the compilation book Dark Bites Four Tales. (Includes Dark Bites 1-5.)
