Entertaining¿
Mike Logan draws readers into the intrigue of the legal system. Nicky Rigopoulos has the reputation of ambulance chaser, but that does not stop him for running for judge. Knowing he is the prime suspect in the death of his campaign manager, Nicky begins his search for the real killer.
Dark Horse is Mike Langan at his finest. This book is fast-paced and action-packed. Nicky is a humorous character in his own sleazy way. Dark Horse is an entertaining whodunit that mystery fans will love. -

Impressive First Book
Dark Horse is an impressive first novel. The best part of the book is the dialogue between the characters which is witty, funny, and sharp. The ending is unpredictable and as I read the book, I had to keep guessing as to who was the killer. The book is sarcastic and irreverent, which makes for some hilarious scenes. I really enjoyed reading this book and was excited to see that the author wrote another book, Ready for the Defense , which is supposed to be out later this year!

Darker Opponent
Nicky Rigopoulos is my anti-hero! From the start, I was smitten with Mr. Smoothie's acerbic wit and disarming charm. I couldn't wait to hear his smart retorts and sarcastic quips! Not only did Nicky exude sex appeal and power, but also genuine atonement. With each colorful character Nicky met, I kept trying to peg the killer but it wasn't till the end that I found out.Wrongfully accused a murderer, the dark horse running candidate must contend with a darker opponent!

fun amateur sleuth
In Syracuse, New York personal injury lawyer Nicky Rigopoulos wants no problem cases interfering with his efforts to become a judge thus he settles for less than his clients deserve when even his partner Lottie Magnarella argues with him that he behaves unethically. Although married to the trophy wife that a hot shot attorney wannabe judge needs, Nicky is a first class womanizer to include at one time Lottie. His spouse knows what he is and does not mind as long as he keeps her in a luxurious lifestyle as she is a man-eater. ---- Nicky¿s chances of landing on the bench sink totally when Lottie is found dead he is the prime suspect as just a few hours earlier they had a public brouhaha over his settling a case for her. Not trusting cops or lawyers as he knows both groups too well, Nicky investigates only to have the police believe he also killed his spouse and one of his lovers. ---- Once you get past the amateur sleuth paradox compounded in this case by the protagonist having strong connections and money, DARK LADY is a terrific whodunit. The story line is fast-paced as Nicky struggles to stay one step ahead of the police while feeling one step behind the culprit. Adding to the fun is that the lead character is the epitome of sleazy lawyer so that readers have mixed feelings as he deserves the worse though he is innocent. ---- Harriet Klausner
