Fast paced romance mystery! Loved it!
Well this book is right up my alley! Crime, police, serial killers and an island – you can’t ask for much more out of a crime story! Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
A little back story on our heroine: Emily Stone is basically a vigilante who follows police investigations closely, then goes off on her own to solve them. She, along with her boyfriend and partner, Rick, are on the hunt for an abducted 9 year old that has been taken by slave traders. The book is set in one of the most beautiful places in the world, Hawaii – which she so vividly describes that you feel like you are there. In such a beautiful place you may not expect there to be such a thing as a slave trade – but there is (and there is far worse there as well). After they find the young girl, the worse of crimes is about to start.
There is a serial killer on the loose and is preying on the women of the island. The brutality of his kills have Emily and Rick partnering with the local police Sergeant to find the killer before there are more bodies. Intertwined in the mystery of the book is also quite a bit of romance – so if you like the duet of romance and mystery, this book is for you.
The book had very short chapters which made it super easy to read – I read it sitting in my recliner last night sipping on some spiced cider It is full of twists and turns, and the serial will come as a surprise!
I really enjoyed this fast paced book and it had me from the first 2 pages. I haven’t had the pleasure to read the other 2 books in the Emily Stone series, but I will definitely check those out now! I’m really looking forward to more from Jennifer Chase.
