This could have been A LOT better

Okay, I see how we are reading about 3 different people and how they were each affected by the events that ocurred in Germany, but I thought that somehow all three people would tie in at the end and this never happened. I am very disappointed. Too many loose ends.

    Could Be Better

The reason why the movie only includes the middle part of this book is because it is the only part where the characters are rounded out so that we can really care about them and find them interesting. Still it wasn't fleshed out terribly well. The first part (all narrative) was written better. The last section really missed the mark. I only continued reading because I hoped to learn what happened to the people in the first two sections, but the story didn't take us there--instead introducing another character whose physical journey was interesting enough, but whose mental/emotional journey was not well explained or motivated, at least with the explanations given.
