    Steamy, Enthralling Paranormal Romance!

The wait is finally over for Gena Showalter's next enthralling tale, THE DARKEST WHISPER in her New York Times, Lords Of the Underworld series (HQN/Sept. 2009). In present day Egypt, Sabin, keeper of the demon Doubt, is leading his fellow immortal Greek warriors on a hunt through the pyramids to find four ancient artifacts that could help them recover Pandora's box. A box they tampered with centuries ago, unleashing dark, deadly demons upon an unsuspecting world. As punishment, the gods cursed each warrior to host a demon inside his body - demons like Defeat, Death, Disaster, Lies, Misery, Pain, Secrets, Violence, Wrath, and Promiscuity. Instead of the box or an artifact, however, the Lords discover a secret room run by Hunters, who have imprisoned immortal women. The evil Hunters are the Lords worst enemies, hoping to destroy the Lords, who they blame for all the world's troubles. While battling the Hunters, Sabin notices one beautiful redhead alone in a glass cell. When he frees her, however, she goes berserk, sprouting razor sharp nails and wings and ripping the throat out of the Hunter leader, who had kept her prisoner for over a year. After the incident, Gwendolyn is horrified with what she has done since once again she finds she has no control over her dark side. A dark side she's always feared. A dark side that makes the Lords of the Underworld look like marshmallows. Sabin, who is desperate to finally win the war, realizes Gwen will make the perfect Bait to trap the Hunters. So instead of allowing Gwen to return to her home in Alaska, he flies her back to his fortress in Budapest. Sabin is very attracted to Gwen, but his demon, who has caused many of his past lovers to commit suicide, is out for blood. Gwen is equally attracted to the commanding Sabin with the rib hugging violet butterfly tattoo but refuses to fall for him since he places victory before love. Will these two learn to trust each other, vanquish their demons and find long-lasting love? Gena Showalter knows how to deliver the goods in the steamy, complex, highly imaginative, THE DARKEST WHISPER. She is simply a PHENOM in the paranormal romance genre as she makes readers laugh, cry and cheer for her Lords Of The Underworld!

The latest Lords of the Underworlds saga is once again an extremely dark exciting tale in which Gena Showalter's mythos laden earth seems genuine

Like his comrades, Sabin hosts a demon he and the others released from Pandora's Box; his being Doubt. He knows unless a miracle occurs as has happened to some of his brothers in arms recently, he will remain eternally alone as he fears Doubt will destroy anyone he cherishes.

He leads an expedition in Egypt for one of the ancient artifacts that could help him and his dark warrior teammates reconstruct Pandora's Box and contain the demons. They find their enemy the Hunters, who believe killing the Lords of the Underworld will destroy the demons, have captured immortal women locking them in hidden cells. One of the prisoners is incarcerated in a glass container. Over the fears and warnings of the Hunters, he frees Gwendolyn the Timid, who unlike the other harpies does not enjoy the kill though she rips out the throat of the Hunter who imprisoned her for the past year. She fears her dark side is free so she wants to return to Alaska to hide from mortals. Instead Sabin takes her to Budapest with him. He wants her and she wants him, but Doubt wants her blood to flow.

The latest Lords of the Underworlds saga (see THE DARKEST PLEASURE, THE DARKEST KISS and THE DARKEST NIGHT) is once again an extremely dark exciting tale in which Gena Showalter's mythos laden earth seems genuine. The hero is a fascinating brooding protagonist who for the first time since his fall has a sliver of hope although his demon leaves him with doubts while the harpy is ready to kill the demon inside her beloved if it gets in the way of love. Though a stand alone as are the other entries starring different "Lords", romantic fantasy fans who appreciate a modernization of ancient myths should read the previous three novels; not only are they excellent, they provide depths to this strong gory read.

    AWESOME!! A Must read!!!

I can't get enough of Gena Showalter. Her books take you to another place. The characters are rich and have depth to them. You feel all the emotions from all of the characters.

I have almost all of her books, and can never wait for when she has a new one coming out.

    She tells a good story.

Very engaging, but be warned, the characters are demons who are the good guys and angels are the bad guys, so take that into consideration when Considering her books.

    Love, Love, Loved it!

I am a devoted Showalter fan & was not disappointed with this book. I love the way she spends the most time on the main characters but also visits all the lords, letting us know what is going on in ther lives. She also gradually sets up the next book almost without you knowing where some other authors do it at the end of the book.
Showalter has a way of spinning this awesome HUGE "underworld" web! I would definitely recommend starting from the beginning before reading this one because I couldn't imagine reading it as a stand alone--& who would want to?! :)
Awesome book---my second time reading it!! Enjoy!!

This series is awesome! Highly addictive!

This is a great romantic series with a mythical twist. I strongly recommend reading all of them, but each book stands on its own as well.

Just a tip, you save money if you purchase the LOrds of the Underworld Bundle...it contains a prequel (about 60 pages) and the first 3 books in the series for just under $10. Otherwise each book is about $5.

be ready to stay up til 2 AM

This book is the fourth in a series so don't make my mistake and start at the 6th. The Darkest Whisper was one of my favorites of the whole series. Sabin has a refreshing honesty even if it's what you don't want to hear. His demon is another story though... One of my top three authors!! The whole series is so amazing I stayed up way late every time I read one to finish reading it in one sitting.
