I love Keri Arthur!! I have reread The Riley Jenson series several times, because Mrs. Arthur's way with worlds. I choose to read her new series The Dark Angels because it featured Risa, who we first meet in the Riley Jenson series and because we get to hear how things have turned out for Riley. Risa is an awesome charcter. She has all the things that made me love Riley, but with a few things that make her a stand out. Darkness Hunts was a great read, just like the other 3 books in the series. Risa finds herself involved in a hunt for a killler who she accidentally comes across on the astral plane and tries to stop him from killing a women. He propose a challenge to her, which she accepts, that if she finds the women in the real world she can save her, but she only has 10mins. Risa tries, but the women is dead by the time she finds her. I would say more, but I dont want to give to much away.
All in all, this a great read.

This book didnt move the series along. I felt like the characters were inthe same place emotionally as they were at the end of the previous book. And what was up with leaving us hanging at the end? To the publisher: YOU couldnt left that last scene in since you know thats what the readers were waiting for it. The fact that you expect us to shell out another 8 bucks to get it is lame. I wont be buying the next one; i'll wait for it to get to the library.

    Good but. . .

While I do enjoy the series as well as Ms. Arthur's other series I am getting a little frustrated with this one. We are on book four (and yes I have already purchased book five) but yet the relationship (or lack of) between Risa and Azrael is getting too angsty and annoying. Do or don't but just PICK ONE!! I am not a romance lover. Not to mean that I don't like romances in my books but I like "normal" ones, not ones that are full of angst, whiny I'm no good for you or love triangle romances. That is what romance stories are for. I will read the next book but if this relationship continues like it is, it will be the last book I read in the series. My only other complaint is that Risa is being too much the martyr by not resting, eating or asking for help when need be. Another situation where I think she needs to put her big girl panties on and deal! She can be a strong, kick-ass heroine and take care of herself and let others help. I would really like to start Ms. Arthur's new Nikki series but I'm afraid that there is going to be the same romance issues in that one as well. I will probably read it eventually from the library but I won't be buying them. Sorry!!
