The only word this book merits is UGH.
The sappy heroine, fresh-from-the-country Millicent Blair, finds herself as companion for her ailing, gossip writer aunt. As such, she's forced to attend evenings among the London elite to glean juicy items for her aunt's column. She focuses on the doings of the Earl of Dunraven, much to his annoyance. There's a thief afoot, and Dunraven suspects Millicent! Was this plot line to make the story more interesting? Well, it didn't divert this reader from the thinly drawn, stock characters, the formula romance, with no surprises. Couldn¿t put it on my give-away pile fast enough.
