Day Hunter
I recommend you read Nightwalker before tackling this novel. This book is fast paced and action-packed but there were a ton of little battles, as oppose to staying on track with the war, so to speak. Nevertheless, there still wasn't a second to waste and the book is very entertaining. The perception of danger seem to lurk around every corner and most of the times, I was on the edge of my seat; while at other times, I felt like the author was stalling and dragging out the story line with a lot of meaningless, albeit interesting, conflicts. I was a bit annoyed with the ongoing storyline of Danaus and Mira trying killing either other. It's been so overused and it doesn't even seem likely at this point. However, I still recommend this book and I will read the next book Dawnbreaker. If Dawnbreaker turns out to be another stalling tactic, I'm not sure I will continue to read the series.

Good series!!!
I really like this series; a perfect balance between vampire politics and just bloody action. Not too strong in the romance catagory, but its slowly building, which i totally appreciate. Looking foward to the slow and easy progression of Danaus's and Mira's relationship.

Great read in the urban fantasty genre. Perfect for Halloween!
I like this author. A unique spin on the tortured "good vampire with a soul" genre. Not very much sex or tension in this novel although she sets the stage for it. LOTS OF fighting bad guys- a unique species of evil determined to kill off everyone, yada, yada, yada. I look forward to her next book. Wish she could give her heroine some more "juice" --this girl needs to believe in herself more!

Same scenario
This book is alot like the first, Mira is still after Rowe and the only thing that EVER happens is fighting, there is one small love scene but Mira is so cold that it isn't exciting. This series makes no sense to me simply because there after the nurturi to save their vampire race BUT the vampires in these books aren't even worth saving!! There heartless creatures, even Mira who's the main character. The whole relationship between Mira and Danaus is all over the place, In this book we find out exactly what Danaus is and learn that he's a HUGE hypocrite because he's constantly saying that vampires are evil (which in this series they are but..) but he's got something actually EVIL in him and Mira never calls him on it. So far this series makes no sense whatsoever and how can you love a series when the characters are bad? I almost can't stand Mira.

Dayhunter
The second installment of the series by Jocelynn Drake, excellent read. One should read the first though as there are things within this one that will make one wonder unless the first has been read. I've added Ms. Drake to my favorite authors.

Horrible
I picked this and the first book up in the bookstore based on the blurb on the back. I regret it! All I could keep thinking was that the entire race of Drake's vampires was horrible and should be destroyed. It was hard to root for the heroine when her race wasn't worth saving. The book numerous times showed and talked about the torture and cruelty of vampires. That they would create more, those they called "chum", just for the fun of torturing them in every way possible before killing them. Why would anyone think this race was worth saving? I love vampire books, but hated both of these. I kept hoping I would like them, but they are going into the trash. They aren't even worth donating or giving away. Don't waste your time on these unless you enjoy rooting for sadists with no redeeming qualities.

Jocelynn Drake is here to stay!
Jocelynn Drake follows her first book, "Nightwalker" with an excellent sequel in "Dayhunter". This book picks up where her first one left off. The main character, Mira is fascinating and her support cast blends in very well with the story. This book lends an interesting view of fantasy vampire fiction. It is a fast read, with an interesting story line. I found it easy to get into. Though I had not heard of Ms. Drake, what caught my eye initially was the book cover, and from then on I became a fan. This is a good book to read for all fans of vampire fiction and sci fi as well. Mira, a vampire with a special "gift" will draw you into her world, and you will enjoy being there!

Next book in Drake's series
This book is the second in the series about a powerful vampire with the power to control fire. She is teamed up with a vampire hunter, and they are dealing with vampire politics as well as the rise of a magical race who can enslave them all. I read the first in the series also. This series hasn't hooked me, and I'm not sure if I will continue with it.

An excellent fast-paced urban fantasy
Fire master NIGHTWALKER Mira has always understood her role as a secret weapon deployed by the ruling Triad to keep the evil Naturi from returning, but now also she knows who she is after centuries of wondering why she is so different from her vampire peers. Mira has made a shaky truce with the vampire hunter Danaus, a human although both know they are natural enemies who probably will one day fight to the death.-------------

The ruling Nightwalker coven orders Mira to come to Venice for a special assignment. She is wary, trusting no one, not even her former mentor. Mira, Danaus who is now part of the Triad, and other members prevent Naturi Rowe from opening the locked portal that prevents his species from crossing over. However, Mira knows it is not over and that some of the Nightwalkers are betraying their kind and the humans; with only the vampire slayer Danaus apparently on her side though she doubts she can depend on him to help her.----------
This excellent fast-paced urban fantasy is owned by Mira, Danaus, and Venice. The city makes a great location for a dark gritty world in which the protagonist trusts no one; not even the mentor the heroine has cherished. Mira is terrific as she still struggles with self-revelations that she learned of in the first Dark Days novel, and now betrayal of those who she should be able to depend on and a survival alliance with a natural enemy the human vampire hunter. The changing of the relationship between Danaus and Mira is the heart and soul of DAYHUNTER, as anything may be creeping out of the shadows thanks to treachery, but even her new partner conceals secrets re who he is and what his agenda is as fans wonder if another seditious act is occurring.--------------
