Excellent vampire romance

She is dying and has little time left yet Shannah Dover has hope because of a man she has seen each night. Curious about him she starts to follow him and begins to believe he is a vampire. She follows him to his home and knocks on the door and when he opens it her hopes are dashed because the sun is still out. Ronan is a vampire but can stand the daylight a little and he sees the sickness in her and gives her some of his blood and makes her forget about it. He is a romance writer writing under a female pseudonym and has an agent who wants him to go on a book tour. He convinces Shannah to impersonate him and each time the illness threatens her, he gives her more time by having her drink his blood. Soon he is in love with the dying mortal but she no longer wants to be a vampire. The thought of losing her tears him apart however, he believes if he turns her without her consent she will hate him. --- Amanda Ashley is one of this reviewer¿s favorite vampire romance writers. Her Byronic vampires are filled with angst and have a gentleness about them that appeals to the mortals they love. Ronan is 513 years old and a power vampire who knows fear for the first time in centuries because he knows love and is afraid it will be taken from him. Shannah is a strong-willed brave woman who wants to love but accepts that unless a miracle occurs she is doomed. DEAD PERFECT is the perfect books for readers of the vampire romances. --- Harriet Klausner

The story was surprisingly long given how little there was to the plot. It was plodding, the plot was mundane and uninteresting. There was no climax. The subplot with the vampire hunter went nowhere and the characters were poorly fleshed out. Several hundred pages later...
The story was surprisingly long given how little there was to the plot. It was plodding, the plot was mundane and uninteresting. There was no climax. The subplot with the vampire hunter went nowhere and the characters were poorly fleshed out. Several hundred pages later and I have no idea who shanna is. what did she do for a living? why did she move to California? What's the nature of her illness? Given the setup, the outcome was predictable which of course put the burden on the author to make the inbetween interesting. She doesn't. Nothing of note happens between the beginning and the last few chapters. Certainly they are events but none of them matter to the outcome, and they have no effect on the characters. The effect is a cold story without fire or humanity.

    I Also Recommend:

    It was pretty good...

I'm trying to figure out if I've completely lost my mind because I just finished this book in one sitting and thought it was pretty good. Reading the reviews I'm wondering if I just thought it was good because the last three books I've read were crap (Blue Bloods, Need and Raven). hmmmm...

Anyways, I enjoyed the relationship between the two main characters. Sure, there's not a lot of action, but don't most people read these types of books for the relationship and romance anways? It was a really sweet and emotional read. The author tended to repeat herself a couple of times, which probably would've been ok if I hadn't read it all at once, to serve as a reminder. It was good, though, I thought. If you've read my recommendations, maybe we have similar taste and you'll like this as well.

    Good But Not Great

Amanda Ashley is a wonderful author, her books stand alone in the vampire romance world. This book for me was not her best but as a fan and dedicated reader I stay true to one of my favorite authors. Anything written by her is worth reading. When people are reviewing books I wish they would give their oppinons instead of recapping the book itself, this does not help another reader to decide to read this book or not.
