    Not Bad, But Not Good

The best thing about this second Matt Richter installment is the imaginative world of Nekropolis. The various settings and imaginative creatures are very entertaining; but, the story is burdened by too much internal rhetoric and overlong scenes. The opening is great, but after that the narrative is plodding and predictable culminating in an uninspired climax with a foreseeable twist. Overall, the mystery investigation is sophomoric lacking both suspense and surprise. The tongue-in-cheek humor is mildly funny but largely banal. Likewise, the characters are stereotyped and lack definition. The detective protagonist is simply a zombified Sam Spade with a signature smart-mouth. I really liked the first book in this series, but this book just didn't deliver.

    Wonderfully horrific!

This second installment of the Matthew Richter novels is great! Not as good as the first book, Nekropolis, but not bad at all! This horror novel takes place int he city of Nekropolis, where demons, warlocks, vampires, zombies, and many other horrific creatures dwell. It continuse with Matt and Devona, now a couple, as a team of, i guess you can say, detectives. I wont tell you the whole stroy but this book was great and i could not stop reading. I would tell myself before i went to bed, one more chapter. I usually read six after that. I recommend this book! Cant wait to read the third, "Dark War"
