After reading McDermott's first book, Deadly Straits, I had been waiting somewhat impatiently for his second installment. I was not disappointed -- Dugan and cronies return to whip up on Somali pirates with suitable plot twists and tight situations. Another enjoyable read by a fresh new author!

Deadly Coast is an excellent follow up to Deadly Straits by R.E.

Deadly Coast is an excellent follow up to Deadly Straits by R.E. McDermott.  In this book shipping magnate Dugan gets caught up in a struggle with Somali pirates.  Many of the characters from Deadly Straits show up in this book which makes this an interesting read for those who read the first in what will become a continuing series.

The pirates are holding sailors from different companies and countries for ransom and Dugan comes up with a plan to free the hostages without any overt government help.  The pirates are infiltrated by a terrorist leader who has an ulterior motive for seizing an American Navy vessel.  Dugan and his plans are drawn into the search for an old deadly weapon with orders to try and destroy it while he is in the process of freeing the hostages from the pirates.

Deadly Coast is an excellent read and McDermott’s background gives his description of the ships and the goings on aboard ships makes the book an interesting read.  Hopefully there will be more coming from Dugan and his cohorts.

Mitch Rapp watch out! Tom Dugan is quietly and quickly taking over. An unlikely hero he gets the job done and makes it looks easy. A great book and I look forward to more from Tom Dugan and RE McDermott.

McDermott has done it again! I was not expecting Deadly Coast to be as good as Deadly Straits, but it's even better. This book is a "page turner" from start to finish. If you have plans for the weekend don't start this book because you aren't going to accomplish anything until you've finished it. I can't wait for the next one. Tom Dugan is the next Dirk Pitt.
