The Flynn brothers inherit a plantation near New Orleans from their late elderly Aunt Amelia. They know nothing about the estate and very little about their deceased aunt. One of the siblings, private investigator Aidan Flynn, travels to see the new property. He soon uncovers a series of vanishings over the past decade that has been unresolved in his mind a serial killer is on the loose, a predator who has no compunctions of killing Aidan and Kendall. ------------- Even with some rotation to what happened on the Flynn Plantation in 1863, the haunting investigative story line remains fast-paced and filled with action especially after the bones are found. Aidan is so hard and distrusting, he is unlikable but he makes the tale with its ghosts seem plausible as he does not change personality abruptly not even for that ¿second hand emotion¿ love and in turn Kendall seems somewhat pale next to him. Fans of Heather Graham will enjoy her latest ghostly Bayou romance due to this somewhat obstinate refreshing lead male.----------- Harriet Klausner

Predictable

I enjoy this genre of mystery and a little romance but this book had a flat story line and was very predictable. Like the second book, Deadly Harvest, I knew who the killer was from the beginning. The lead male character, Aidan Flynn, becomes highly suspicious of everyone in the book except for the killer of course, which is what tipped me off. The storyline wasn't bad but the day-to-day of the characters was flat and it seemed like nothing really happened until the very last chapter. The romance between Aidan and the female lead, Kendall, seemed a little forced. I felt there wasn't enough between them to justify such a hot and steamy romance so quickly. I wish there would have been more unspoken feelings, more tension, more long looks of desire, etc. It was like one minute they detested each other and suddenly, the next day, they were just somehow together. Another thing I don't like about these books is that once the characters are intimate, it's a really big deal when they're doing it, but the next day, it's back to business. That happens to couples who have been married for years; not new lovers.

Did not hold my interest

This is the first Heather Graham book I've read and it is very likely to be the last. The story had an interesting although unoriginal premise, but for me the writing did not hold my interst. Several times I found myself skimming rather than reading.

The story lacked chemistry bettwen Kendell and Aidan. I did not think Aidan was as much of a jerk as the author tried to portray him to be. I felt Kendell was an obstructionist in Aidan's investigation into a possible serial killer. She was overprotective of her friends. I could not figure out why, if she was so sure they were innocent, was it not okay for Aidan to question her friends seriously, especially since it was clear they had direct knowledge of the case/victims.

I think had the author included more of the brother's in this book I would have been interested to read any sequels involving them, but by the end of the book I just barely cared enough about any of it to read the last few pages. The mystery is what kept me reading, wanting to knew who was behind the disapperances, but it lacked an edge of suspense and because the writing didn't draw me in I barely cared.

Boring

I read A LOT about 4 to 5 books a week. I found this book dull and boring and I had a very difficult time staying with it. I did finish it but I did not enjoy it. The characters were underdeveloped and dull. Not worth the time in my opinion.

Great book

First book in the Flynn brothers trilogy and it was a great read. The brothers inherit a family plantation, spirits and all. Aiden Flynn is convinced that a murder has taken place but convincing the New Orleans police isn't easy. If you lile mystery with history and ghosts then you must read this book

Deadly Night is the first of the Flynn Brother Series written by Heather Graham. The Flynn's inherit an old Southern Plantation located outside of New Orleans that was owned by a relative they didn't know existed. From the beginning the eldest Aiden is caught up in murder, mayhem and romance. With the help of his brothers and long lost ghostly relatives the mystery is solved.

I truly could not put this book down. Soo many memorable characters , emotion and truly bringing the story to life. LOVED IT

This has to be one of my favorites!!

I absolutely love Heather Graham anyway, but this is one of my favorites of hers. The novel keeps you guessing, and the bit of paranormal she always encorporates makes it all the more thrilling. There was a touch of romance that kept the book going STRONG when they weren't investigating the strange things occuring. I always love when there is love encorporated in a thrilling and suspenseful story! The ending was very intense and heart-pounding!! I think that this is definitely a must read!!!

Great Book

This book was great. I loved it!! I just couldn't put it down and finished it the same day I bought it. It was very engrossing, fast paced and kept my interest. Made me want to visit New Orleans again. Beautiful city.
