    Rules to deal with anyone in the workplace

    It is not a book to read straight through. But definitely a book to pick up to read if you have people in the workplace who fit the 'types' broken down in the book!! Always good to refer to as you are dealing with various characters in the workplace and in life in general!!

    A Must Read

    This is not only a great book for the workplace but can be incorporated into all aspect of life. Other have asked to borrow but I plan to give as gifts so that I can keep my copy handy for reference.

    This really is helpful!

    The ideas in this book can be adapted for almost any situation. A subtitle could be 'or people who you love who have difficult personality traits' It is written for the work place, but I have used with my children, with friends, and even with in-laws. I recommend it for anyone who has difficult people in their lives.

    A Good Read!

    You know these people from the office: the dominating Tank, the undermining Sniper, the explosive Grenade and the smarmy Know-It-All. For your sake, here's hoping you only have one or two of them running around your cubicle farm. Unfortunately, the work world is fraught with complainers, cheats, toadies and downers. To avoid becoming a downer yourself, you need coping strategies. Authors Dr. Rick Brinkman and Dr. Rick Kirschner describe 10 difficult, if slightly contrived, personalities and provide communications techniques for dealing with them. This is not a textbook, being slim on attributions and facts. It is, rather, a feel-good handbook of simple suggestions for using tactics and popular psychology to deal with someone you'd actually rather strangle. Given that choice, conversation is a better strategy. We hope it works for you, and suggests this light but well-intentioned book to human resources professionals, managers with problem employees and you, if you're feeling particularly homicidal about that knuckle-cracking, gum-popping slacker in the next cubby.

    Useful book for dealing with difficult people in the office. Provides some practical tips and simulates conversations that I found helpful in working with complex personality types. I've struggled particularly with a difficult boss and found this book of great use alongside a guidebook I've recommended here. Like other reviewers have said, this is a book to keep for references and not something you will necessarily read through entirely.

    Very helpful--in theory

    I needed this book when I found myself working with an unbelievably Horrible Boss (think, "The Devil Wears Prada") I found the book an easy read and could appreciate the advice overall; however, putting its guidance and wisdom to practical use turned out not to be as easy...since I ended up telling my Horrible Boss where to shove this book :) Notwithstanding, I see this book as a reference that one can return to again and again, when needed, and I think that with a little practice and effort on the part of the reader, it WILL help.

    I have read some chapters and skim through others. This book gave me a different way to look at others views and see myself in every situation.
