    The Romance Reviews Top Pick

Holy guacamole ladies and gents, I have another winner! Seriously, if you are a fan of masterfully written characters, smokin' hot sex, tender romantic men and strong independent women you really need to check out Dear Sir, I'm Yours by Joely Sue Burkhart.

The first book in The Connaghers series is about the reunion of a professor and his undergraduate student five years after he spanked her in his office until she had an orgasm. In those five years Professor Connagher has obsessed over his lost love Rae Lynn. He realized where he went wrong as a Dom and set out to study and learn the right way to guide Rae Lynn's natural submissive side should he ever be blessed with finding her again. Rae Lynn, on the other hand, has spent the last five years caring for her ailing father, running the family business and married to a self-absorbed abusive loser.

Picking out a favorite part is a tough challenge for me. Would it be the crazy grandma who talks to her dead husband, wields a disciplining pink parasol, and expertly manipulates two pig-headed would-be lovers? Or maybe the poetry quotin' Dom professor, Conn, who has a PhD in tie-me-up-and-drive-me-crazy to go along with his PhD in English?

    Ah, no.

I think it has to be the letters Rae Lynn wrote to Conn in the five years they were apart, never having intended to give them to him. Each chapter in the book opens with one of Rae Lynn's letters that serve as a journal of her self-discovery as she marries an abusive man, watches her beloved father's health fail and their business go down the drain, and she finally divorces the jerk and closes the doors to her family business. Through Rae Lynn's letters, we see her go from a naïve undergraduate student who ran away from a professor who showed her how much her body craved to be dominated to an enduring woman who understands the difference between a bully's selfish need to control and a dominant's gift to his submissive.

With tender moments that brought tears to my eyes, hysterical moments that had me gripping my sides, and Oh My Gawd moments that had me searching for a hand fan, I was up well into the night unwilling to put this amazing read down. The story was fast-paced, engaging, complex and well-rounded. Joely Sue Burkhart was a new author to me. She has talent in spades and I just can't wait to check out more of her books.

    Romance with a Kink

This book is a touching, sweet and fiery love story I would recommend to anyone looking for poinent romance. The characters that inhabit her world are sweet, strong and complex. From Miss Bell, the grandmother that would open a bed and breakfast to bring her grandson's lost love home decked from head to toe in bright pink, to Rea who has spend five years running from her life and her fears while taking care of her family, to Conn the sexy English professor in history and devoted lover whose pined five years for Rea and will keep waiting for her as long as she needs to feel safe and loved in his arms.

The BDSM elements in this novel only serve to heighten the romance and loving affection between these two characters. This lifestyle, depicted through the eyes of a committed and loving couple, never appears tawdry or over the top, but instead appears the natural progress of these two people in love. The lifestyle is portrayed truthfully, detailing the most important aspect not as sex, but truths and communication.

All in all this is a book you can't put down, characters you can route for a love and filled with a sweetness and fiery heat only Joely Sue Burkhart could deliver in such stunning equality and sincerity. If you have the opportunity to pick this book up you will not be sorry but what you find within its pages.
