More than first meets the eye

This is a story of the life of Abigail Adams, but the reader learns a lot about U.S. history as well as about the wife of the nation's influential second president. The author has a gift for telescoping much historial detail into a few highly informative paragraphs and presenting her readers with enough intimate and revealing information to make the characters come appealingly alive and keep the story interesting. Abigail, the reader discovers, was an extraordinary person, but was not altogether wonderful, not the faultless heroine one might expect in her biography.

    NOT SO HOT

After reading the publishers comments we (our book club) was looking forward to reading this book and sharing our views. This version of abigales life lacked substance. Blowing through some of histories stellar moments. Abigale was an amazing women in a time when women were not very out spoken. This author missed the mark in our opinion.

    Great Story

The author does a nice job of writing the book like a novel. She also covers a lot of time in not a lot of pages. The book reads quickly and stays interesting through. Other Adams historians dispute some of the authors opinions on what Adams was thinking when she made different remarks, but overall the author is in step. The book seems well researched. Definitly recomended.
