Slow-moving. The main character spends a lot of time flirting with a local woman, waiting for his host to return home, sleeping, waiting for results, being out of commission due to illness, etc., rather than trying to get to the bottom of a murder. Was this review helpful? There is a touch of Dischism when the main character muses about how the story is not coming together. Some chunks of exposition stick out. This is a cleaned-up edition, but still has some howlers in the spelling and grammar departments.
First novel for this author.
The ending is abrupt.
