    Great psychological suspense

The evidence was overwhelming as Andrew Dow¿s DNA linked him to the victims and he confessed to being a serial killer. However, the close and shut case falls apart after the conviction of Andrew when he is in prison and additional murders using the same signature occurred. On appeal, the court frees Dow. Two months later, Dow¿s new wife is missing and his prison psychiatrist Dr. Susie Harriot is found near his mutilated body............................. At Dr. Harriot¿s trial, the prosecution painted a picture of revenge claiming that Susie loved her patient, but when Dow married someone else, she went over the edge and brutally killed him and probably his spouse. Susie is found guilty. As much for himself and their nineteen-month-old child Margie, her husband Lachlan vows to appeal the conviction and uncover the truth, but he will find much more than he bargained for when he started his quest to free his lively beautiful wife...................................... Using diaries written by Lachlan as he makes one shocking discovery after another, fans will see the peeling away of the mask to the inner essence of several cast members. Especially shredded is Susie who hides a dark nature and Lachlan who hopes to recapture his Camelot, but feels as if he ventures into Dante¿s realm as he interprets finding after finding to make it fit his reality. Denise Mina provides a stupendous stunner that will fascinate, entice, and shock readers who, like Lachlan, will continually hold to perceptions even as the chilling truth surfaces............................. Just okay...

I really love Denise Mina's books, but for some reason this one just didn't do it for me. Normally her characters have so much depth and you just can't wait to find out what will happen to them. The characters in this one just didn't win me over.

    Great Book

This was one of the first e books that I purchased. Absolutely one of my all time favorite books. This book was suspenseful and I hated to put it down, unfortunately life kept getting in the way. It has an ending that I did not see coming. Don't miss reading this one.

    Not my cup of tea

I struggled to get through this book. I was so looking forward to it but was disappointed. It was S L O W! The only thing I can say good about it is that there were some surprises at the end of the book. But even the unexpected was overshadowed by the long, drawn out story.

Great read. Keeps the reader interested from the first page

Very witty and different from the oh so many movie of the week type books out there today. My attention was captured from page one and although I figured out some of the truth from early on, I was still surprised by the ending. Not contrived or too out there. I cannot wait to read Denise Mina's next book. She has a new fan!

    Not a good read

I am an avid reader and was really looking forward to reading this book. This book has gotten great reviews so I was so excited about reading it. However, this book has been a huge disappointment. I find that the story drags and the pace is slow and a bit boring. I tried to keep reading the book in the hopes of reaching a point where the story picks up...that moment never came. I may try reading it again as I seem to be missing the greatness of this book. I would not recommend this book to a friend.

    Addictive!

I could not put this book down for a second! Denise Mina grabs you from the very first page and refuses to let you stop reading until the very last. The story line was suspenseful and kept you guessing. Just when you think you have something figured out a new piece of information surfaces. You discover the truth as it unfolds, as if you're doing the research yourself. Highly recommended!

    Shocker

This witty, energetic mystery from author Denise Mina, is a great read. The husband of a forensic psychologist, who was recently convicted of murdering two people, seeks to prove his wife's innocence. He combs through his wife's letters & e-mails to discover the layers of her deceptions. The story turns into a real page-turner. Highly recommended.
