I read this book in the mid 80's when I was diagnosed with Scoliosis. This book gave me the courage and the understanding on how to deal with wearing a brace and the surgery; and now I am giving this book to my young cousin who was just diagnosed with Scoliosis. I am positive she would feel better once she reads the book.

To the 13 yr old who posted on may 20

I just wanted you and everyone else to know that you're not alone. I have had my back brace for a year now, and i absolutely hate it.my first day i got it, we went to the store and i had it on over my clothes. Everyone i passed gave me horrible looks. Even now, a year later, i cant go out in public without it covered up because of the looks i get. And people at school dont help either. I hope no one has to go everyday feeling like they're different like i do. And if anyone wants to talk about it, im free to listen.

    ERR.

Deenie was an okay book. It wasnt really my favorite. It was realistic, which i respected, but almost too realistic. I jsut felt like i was reading about some girl who had a doctors appointment. I have scoliosis so i can relate. but this book didnt really capture what it's really like to have scoliosis. It was okay, but not as good os her other books.

    Dennie

This is a o.k. book but it hit very close to home because I have scoliosis and had to go through a small part of what this book is about. This will teach a lot of girls that don't tease people because of their medical problembs, beacuse you might have some of your own karma coming back to you.

    I read it 4 times

It was a great book. One of my favorites. It deals with a young teenager diagnosed with Scoliosis and at the same time having to deal with her mother urging Denie's future career as a model. Her older sister has the spotlight as the brains, and Denie seems to be brought to the family as the gorgeous one. However, I hated the ending myself. I just thought it was a bad time to end the book.
