A beautiful tribute to a brilliant songwriter
Cowboy Junkies do justice - and then some - to songs from the catalog of Vic Chesnutt, perhaps the most criminally under-appreciated songwriter of the past decade. Singer Margo Timmins is a master of the kind of despair that Chesnutt often wrote about, and she understands the self-deprecating humor and lacerating wit throughout. The arrangements are a revelation as well, particularly when the band adds muscle to Chesnutt's often spare song structures. Highly recommended for fans of either artist, or anyone interested in literary songwriting. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
