    EPIC! INTENCE! ADDICTIVE!

Grate misfortune is bestowed appon the Tempist twins, Connor and Grace, when there father dies. If they are to stay in cresent moon bay there lives will be hell. So in a desprate attempt at a better life they look to the seas. Unfortunetly they are misfortunate again and are seperated when there boat is ship wrecked. Connor is rescued by a ship of pirates and Grace by a ship of Vampirates. Their primary gole is to see each other safe again.

This book is engaging and entertaning with its slightly more than occasonal laugh and tear. I do disagre with the discription of Grace being incredibly intelegent, she has book sarts sure but common sence um...no...

I recomend this sires to anyone who likes to read and if you dont like to read well this would be a good book to get you started on the path of a hard core book worm ;)

    "Twilight"

I know it seems like Twilight but this one is one hundred times better but since that would be zero, add unlimited!

a pirates life is a wonderful life!!!!!

I thought this book was ever interesting. I am a stay-at-home mom who was unable to put the book down. It seemed like I was watching the story unfold in person. great attention to details and great attention to real life happenings. the Tempest twins seemed like average everyday children that ran out of luck. It seemed that both Conner and Grace learned many lessons about life and growing up while on different ships.
Towards the end of the book i was surpised by the adbrupt ending it took. I kind of thought something was starting to happening between Grace and lorcan but, that could change in the books to continue. Also I thought something was going to happen with Sidirdio and the Vampirate crew at the end because of what Sidirdio did while aboard the diablo.
But seriously, I couldn't put the book down and jumped straight into the next one. it was nothing at first of how i imaagined it too be. nothing at all like the twilight series or anything similar.

My graduates to the author for a wonderful children;s book. my son will definately add this to his collection when he is older. thank you.

One of the best books i've ever read.

Vampirates; Demons of the Ocean isn't like any other novel, it was exciting from beginning to end. Twins, Grace and Connor Tempest, lived in a lighthouse with their father, Dexter Tempest, who was the lighthouse keeper. He always sang an old shanty to Grace and Connor
about Vampirates. To them, it was just an old shanty, and had no truth or story to it. But then everything changed for them after their father's tragic death. Grace and Connor had nothing left. No family, no shelter, nothing. The only option they had was to be a part of another family, Mr. Busby's family, or to go to an orphanage. But instead, they decided to set sail alone on their father's ship. They didn't plan everything out very well, and after a terrible storm, their ship sank and they were separated. Connor was rescued by a pirate ship, where he made friends who supported him, and who taught him how to swordfight. He had a chance to live the life of a pirate, while Grace was rescued by a vampirate ship. She was aboard with a crew of vampires, which helped her except for one that was dangerously bloodthirsty. She made friends also, and learned about the lifestyle of these vampirates. But Grace and Connor's only concern was to find eachother and to be united again. These twins never thought they would have the adventure of a lifetime.

Justin Somper mixed two totally different topics to write a one of a kind novel. It's filled with adventure and thrill. But not only that, there's death, sadness, trust, friendship, and of course, vampires and pirates. I would recommend it to anyone who likes these topics. It
takes the lives of two kids somewhere they never thought they would end up. Vampirates was a very interesting book, I was glued to it from
beginning to end. I think it will keep it's readers on the edge of their seat, eager to find out what will happen next. It's definitely worth
reading, and a page turner. I will consider reading his other books, and reading the rest of the "Vampirates" books. His style of writing really
satisfied me, and I'm sure that I'll like his other books.

    I Also Recommend:

The story of Vampirates reads itself as nothing short of a friendly kid-aimed publication. Unfortunately, the story falls flat in many areas of the book.

Vampirates: Demons of the Ocean. The title, although laughable for a sense of humor, is a pretty easily understandable concept to grasp at first read. A hyrbid of vampires and pirates. The author, Justin Stomper, takes two common themes in fiction and brings them together in what an average Joe would assume to be a thrilling ride... oh, not quite!

Vampirates starts off from an emotional turning point for the two protagonist, twins Grace and Connor Tempest. The first few chapters begin with strong adult-themes -- mainly death. I found them to be ridden with great emotional impact that give us a good insight on Connor and Grace's heart. They become very easy characters(not in a bad way) right from the jump. Knowing the characters so well from the beginning made the book an exciting page-turner. I hadn't set it down at all for a great amount of chapters.

Sadly, the plot really begins to drag itself once it gets halfway through. Connor's plot consist of the back-and-forth motion of acceptance for all his shipmates and it reads exactly like that of a Disney Channel Original Movie. (SPOILERS ALERT!) He makes friends. He makes enemies. His enemies soon enough accept him. He does something to prove himself worthy of The Diablo(that's the name of the pirate ship) and then the shipmates realize him for the natural pirate that he really is. The only thing I found enjoyable about his plot was his interaction with roommate and new bestie, Bart. Majority(and by majority, I mean 3/4) of his plotlines and short arcs were irrelevant if not predictable.

Grace's plot was a lot more enjoyable(although still lacking in certain elements) and I'm sure the 'Twilight' fanbase would surely get a kick out of it. (SPOILER ALERT!) Her plotline consist of her being caged in a cabin and only interacting(for the most part) with Lorcan Furey, the boy who saved her from the treacherous ocean. Lorcan is a vampirate(*gasp*) and his sworn duty is to protect Grace(*double gasp*) from shipmates who abuse the privilege of "donors". It should come as no surprise that his duty becomes more than personal for him as he learns about Grace and eventually gains an infatuation toward her.

My biggest beef with the story is the setting. This book takes place in the year 2505 and I have absolutely no reason why. It doesn't at all set the environment of a 25th century. When settings are described through detail I sense nothing futuristic about it at all. In fact, I really get the vibe of a semi-historic setting. The most futuristic accessory to the book was the mention of a sports car(and no, it doesn't fly -- at least, there was no evidence of it).

Another easy beef with the story is the horrible pacing. It wastes nearly no time to get the Tempest twins into the expecting setting of pirate ships and vampires out on sea but once there you feel that the plot stops moving. I'm all for character-driven plots, dynamics, and interaction but at some point I need more. The action sequences come far and few between and they all end before they even begin. The ending of the book is very anti-climatic. The falling point riles the readers up for absolutely NOTHING. And that's only the skin of the teeth but unfortunately we're only allowed so many characters in a review.

An interesting read if only for the start of a what I hope to be a compelling series from here on out. I plan on getting the 2nd book and briefly reading through the beginning. I hope it's not as uneven
